MEi:CogSci Conference 2018

June 14, 2018 – June 16, 2018

The MEi:CogSci Conference 2018 has the primary purpose to allow students of cognitive science to present their work to an international and interdisciplinary audience. It gives the opportunity to meet students as well as teachers from MEi:CogSci partner universities and engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue. Furthermore invited speakers will give talks about their current research in the field of cognitive science.

Submissions and deadlines

Submissions for this conference are closed. The call for papers and author guidelines are on the University of Vienna conference page.

The first year students poster presentation will be split to 2 sessions as indicated in the conference schedule. The list of students per session is in the poster session schedule.

The registration is open on Thursday 13:30 - 15:30.

The conference donation of 15 Euro should be given already at the registration. Note that this includes coffee breaks, proceedings, and the conference T-Shirt.

The conference will take place in rooms A, C, and I9 and in the school vestibuli. Check out the map of locations. During the scheduled coffee breaks refreshments will be served near the back entrance to room A (the biggest lecture hall).

Conference Venue

The conference takes place at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Comenius University, in Mlynská dolina, Bratislava. Enter from the eastern side (close to the statue of Nicolas Copernicus), then follow the signs for the MEiCogSci conference.

How to get there

From the Central railway station (Hlavná stanica)

Take the bus no. 32, get off at the bus stop Botanická záhrada (approx. 13 min).

From the railway station Petržalka

Take the bus no. 91 or 191 to Nový most (approx. 4 min), then change for the tram no. 4 or 9 to Botanická záhrada (approx. 6 min).

From the airport

Take the bus no. 61 to the Central railway station (Hlavná stanica, approx. 25 min), then change for the bus no. 32, get off at the bus stop Botanická záhrada (approx. 13 min).

From the bus station Mlynské nivy

Take the bus no. 70 to Nový most (approx. 5 min), then change for the tram no. 4 or 9 to Botanická záhrada (approx. 6 min).

On foot from Botanická záhrada

From tram/bus station Botanical garden (Botanická záhrada) or from hotel Družba cross the big street via the overbridge and continue straight on. Pass the Faculty of Natural Sciences (Prírodovedecká fakulta) on the left and the next building on your left is the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. Enter from the eastern side (close to the statue of Nicolas Copernicus), then follow the signs for the MEiCogSci conference (see the map).

By car

If coming from Austria or Hungary, follow the motorway D2 (E65), and right after crossing the Danube take exit 62 (Mlynská dolina, Devín). If coming from Czech Republic, follow the motorway D2 (E65), right after coming through the tunnel Sitina, take exit towards Devín, Karlova ves, Centrum. Accommodation

Hotel Družba

There are multiple options for accommodation in Bratislava, the closest is Hotel Družba on the riverside of Danube.

The conference venue is in the walking distance (5-10 min) from the Hotel Družba. From the hotel Družba cross the big street via the overbridge and continue straight on. Pass the Faculty of Natural Sciences (Prírodovedecká fakulta) on the left and the next building on your left is the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. Enter from the eastern side (close to the statue of Nicolas Copernicus), then follow the signs for the MEiCogSci conference (see the map).

Wifi is available at the faculty through Eduroam.

Food

The Faculty has two school canteens and a cafeteria. One large canteen (FAYNFOOD) and the cafeteria are located in the Physics building - very close to the entrance, the other canteen (FREEFOOD) is in the Mathematics building at the very end of the long corridor that you enter if you go straight from the reception. The current menu, as well as other dining options, can be found here. Besides our Faculty, there are several buffees, a cafeteria and a pizzeria in the nearby Faculty of natural sciences, and plenty others are in the student's dormitory area in Slávičie údolie.

Breakfeast options around Družba: there are two supermarkets in walking distance (10 min or 1 tram stop) westward from the hotel Družba, and the restaurant Machnáč that serves breakfeast eastward from Družba (also 10 min walking or 1 tram stop). See the map.
